The material list: what the E numbers mean
Sep 26, 2026 · Written by the platform. Not reviewed by a lawyer.
English translation produced by the platform. It has not been reviewed by a native speaker and is not a certified translation. The Chinese version is the source.
This page explains the E numbers that appear in the law pages and the evidence walkthroughs. Each number is a kind of material, not an obligation.
Of the 48 fields, 0 are required in order to register and 0 are legally mandatory worldwide. You can take part without any material at all. Saying what is missing, and why, is far more useful than producing something that merely looks complete.
"Private" means that by default only you can see it. The platform does not publish it, and does not hand it to a lawyer because you registered.
Rights and relationships
- E01 | Your relationship to the work — Tells apart the author, an employer, an assignee, a publisher and a representative. How far to go: recommended, see SOP06. Private by default.
- If you don't have it: Mark it missing and why. You can carry on taking part and add it later.
- E07 | Publication page, version and date — Locates the public version, the fact of publication, and possible routes of access. How far to go: recommended, see SOP06. Private by default.
- If you don't have it: Mark it missing and why. You can carry on taking part and add it later.
- E08 | Contracts and the chain of rights — Identifies the scope, duration and territory of a licence, and assignment, employment or commission relationships. How far to go: keep it if you have it, do not create it, see SOP06.
- If you don't have it: Note who holds the contract and the facts. Do not guess at the clauses.
- E09 | Any registration or publication number you already have — For conditional registration and procedural review. An ISBN is not a registration certificate. How far to go: keep it if you have it, do not create it, see SOP06. Private by default.
- If you don't have it: You can take part unregistered. Where a particular action requires registration, a lawyer confirms it. Never enter a fake number.
- E10 | Historical licences and platform terms — Preserves the version in force at the time, rather than letting today's web page stand in for history. How far to go: keep it if you have it, do not create it, see SOP06. Private by default.
- If you don't have it: Mark it missing and why. You can carry on taking part and add it later.
- E11 | An existing reservation of rights or refusal of training — Additional rules in the EU, Spain and elsewhere may require the time it took effect, where it was, and in what form. How far to go: keep it if you have it, do not create it, see SOP06. Private by default.
- If you don't have it: Record none or don't know honestly. A setting you make now does not retrospectively prove a past one.
The work itself
- E02 | Internal work number — Lets works, incidents and material be linked, without a count of works standing in for a count of people. How far to go: recommended, see SOP01. Private by default.
- If you don't have it: Mark it missing and why. You can carry on taking part and add it later.
- E03 | Title of the work — Identifies the particular work. A working title is fine. How far to go: recommended, see SOP01. Private by default.
- If you don't have it: Mark it missing and why. You can carry on taking part and add it later.
- E04 | The original file closest to when it was made — Preserves the content and its original format, rather than letting a screenshot stand in for everything. How far to go: recommended, see SOP01. Private by default.
- If you don't have it: With no original, keep the earliest copy you have, the publication page, a paper copy or third-party correspondence, and mark the gap.
- E05 | Drafts, revisions or project files — Gives mutually corroborating material about how the work came about. How far to go: keep it if you have it, do not create it, see SOP01. Private by default.
- If you don't have it: Do not manufacture drafts. Keep the emails, old versions, sketches or business records you already have.
What you saw
- E12 | Incident number — Links one observation or conversation to several works and pieces of material. How far to go: recommended, see SOP02. Private by default.
- If you don't have it: Mark it missing and why. You can carry on taking part and add it later.
- E13 | The company or product you saw, and on what basis — Keeps the product brand, the model supplier and any eventual defendant from being conflated in advance. How far to go: recommended, see SOP02. Private by default.
- If you don't have it: Mark it missing and why. You can carry on taking part and add it later.
- E14 | The model and version shown on screen — Preserves the label visible at the time. Do not fill in a model from impression. How far to go: recommended, see SOP02. Private by default.
- If you don't have it: Mark it missing and why. You can carry on taking part and add it later.
- E16 | Web address or session identifier — Helps get back to the same page. A link may expire or may contain a secret. How far to go: recommended, see SOP02.
- If you don't have it: Mark it missing and why. You can carry on taking part and add it later.
- E17 | Uncropped screenshots or recordings of what was on screen — Preserves the product identification, the content and the connecting context. How far to go: recommended, see SOP02. Private by default.
- If you don't have it: Mark it missing and why. You can carry on taking part and add it later.
- E23 | The original downloadable output or export — Preserves the output as you actually obtained it, with a separate copy for comparison. How far to go: recommended, see SOP03. Private by default.
- If you don't have it: With no download button, keep screenshots and selectable text, marked as not being the original downloaded file.
Timing
- E06 | When it was made, and what that is based on — Separates a remembered date from a system field and from an external record. How far to go: recommended, see SOP01. Private by default.
- If you don't have it: Mark it missing and why. You can carry on taking part and add it later.
- E15 | When you observed it, the time zone, and how precise that is — Preserves the local time and zone as you saw them. It does not pretend to be a trusted timestamp. How far to go: recommended, see SOP02. Private by default.
- If you don't have it: Mark it missing and why. You can carry on taking part and add it later.
Context and conditions
- E18 | The full text you typed in — Explains what input produced the output, rather than selecting a single sentence. How far to go: recommended, see SOP03.
- If you don't have it: Mark it missing and why. You can carry on taking part and add it later.
- E19 | Relevant earlier turns and conversation exports — Preserves the context needed to understand the output. Unrelated whole-account material is not sent anywhere. How far to go: recommended, see SOP03.
- If you don't have it: Mark it missing and why. You can carry on taking part and add it later.
- E20 | Attachments and links you gave the model — Separates what you uploaded, what retrieval fetched, and what might be memorised from training. How far to go: recommended, see SOP03.
- If you don't have it: Mark it missing and why. You can carry on taking part and add it later.
- E21 | Whether you gave the original work to the model — Stops content returned after you pasted your own work being misreported as evidence about training. How far to go: recommended, see SOP03. Private by default.
- If you don't have it: Mark it missing and why. You can carry on taking part and add it later.
- E22 | Retrieval, web browsing, custom instructions and so on — Records the visible configuration. Where you cannot see the back end, write don't know. How far to go: keep it if you have it, do not create it, see SOP03. Private by default.
- If you don't have it: Mark it missing and why. You can carry on taking part and add it later.
Comparing the work with the output
- E27 | Where the work and the output correspond — The specific paragraph, page or region of the image, with the whole thing kept as well. How far to go: recommended, see SOP04. Private by default.
- If you don't have it: Mark it missing and why. You can carry on taking part and add it later.
- E28 | What is the same, what differs, and what is uncertain — For a human to judge. A percentage does not declare infringement. How far to go: recommended, see SOP04. Private by default.
- If you don't have it: Mark it missing and why. You can carry on taking part and add it later.
Training clues
- E30 | Training or dataset clues you can lawfully obtain — Saves the specific entry, version and source, rather than treating an inference as a conclusion. How far to go: keep it if you have it, do not create it, see SOP02. Private by default.
- If you don't have it: You can register a concern with no clue at all. Do not break into accounts, obtain leaked databases, or bypass access controls in bulk.
- E31 | Evidence connecting a dataset to a particular model — Separates a dataset containing the work from a particular model having actually used that version. How far to go: keep it if you have it, do not create it, see SOP02. Private by default.
- If you don't have it: Keep the gap in the chain. A dataset with the same name, or a URL, does not establish that training happened.
Preserving and checking
- E24 | How you captured it, on what device and in what app — Records who obtained it and how, not only the result. How far to go: recommended, see SOP02. Private by default.
- If you don't have it: Mark it missing and why. You can carry on taking part and add it later.
- E25 | Device condition and any known malfunction — Records that a malfunction may have affected integrity. If you do not know, do not assert that all was well. How far to go: keep it if you have it, do not create it, see SOP05. Private by default.
- If you don't have it: Mark it missing and why. You can carry on taking part and add it later.
- E26 | Who actually captured it, and who helped — Who personally carried it out and can describe the process. How far to go: recommended, see SOP02.
- If you don't have it: Mark it missing and why. You can carry on taking part and add it later.
- E29 | The lineage of annotated, redacted or converted copies — Any crop, annotation, PDF export or conversion keeps the original and is explained. How far to go: recommended, see SOP04. Private by default.
- If you don't have it: Mark it missing and why. You can carry on taking part and add it later.
- E32 | File fingerprint — Checks the integrity of the bytes you actually received or chose. How far to go: keep it if you have it, do not create it, see SOP05. Private by default.
- If you don't have it: If a tool cannot handle it, keep the original. You do not need to upload to an unfamiliar site or open a terminal.
- E33 | The original file name — Preserves the file's identity. A sensitive name is not published automatically. How far to go: recommended, see SOP05. Private by default.
- If you don't have it: Mark it missing and why. You can carry on taking part and add it later.
- E34 | Size in bytes — Checked together with the file inventory and the hash. How far to go: recommended, see SOP05. Private by default.
- If you don't have it: Mark it missing and why. You can carry on taking part and add it later.
- E35 | Existing metadata and where it came from — Preserves EXIF, modification times and so on. These can change and are not independent certification. How far to go: keep it if you have it, do not create it, see SOP01. Private by default.
- If you don't have it: No EXIF or RAW does not rule anything out. Keep the file as received and do not fabricate.
- E36 | The local time the fingerprint was produced — Describes only the clock the tool used. It is separate from when the work was created. How far to go: keep it if you have it, do not create it, see SOP05. Private by default.
- If you don't have it: Mark it missing and why. You can carry on taking part and add it later.
- E37 | A receipt for what the platform actually received — A future platform record of receiving certain bytes at a certain time. It does not prove authorship or origin. How far to go: a later platform feature, see SOP05. Private by default.
- If you don't have it: The current offline tool cannot do this. The value must be null.
- E38 | Independent timestamp material — Where needed, the service and its legal effect locally are assessed separately. How far to go: handled by a professional, see SOP05.
- If you don't have it: Not having one does not stop you taking part. Do not call a device clock or a hash a trusted timestamp.
- E39 | Records of copying, transfer and export — Preserves who did what and when, and how the original and the new copy relate. How far to go: recommended, see SOP05. Private by default.
- If you don't have it: Mark it missing and why. You can carry on taking part and add it later.
- E40 | Backup locations and whether they can be restored — Reduces the risk of losing everything with one device, without publishing drive or account details. How far to go: recommended, see SOP05.
- If you don't have it: Mark it missing and why. You can carry on taking part and add it later.
Quality of the material

- If you don't have it: Mark it missing and why. You can carry on taking part and add it later.
- E47 | How far the material has been checked — Separates self-reported, received, integrity-checked, source-reviewed and professionally reviewed. None of these is a court finding. How far to go: recommended, see SOP05. Private by default.
- If you don't have it: Mark it missing and why. You can carry on taking part and add it later.
- E48 | Seen first-hand, reported by others, or inferred — Makes the chain of sources and the unconfirmed parts explicit. How far to go: recommended, see SOP02. Private by default.
- If you don't have it: Mark it missing and why. You can carry on taking part and add it later.
Effect on you
- E41 | Existing loss or licensing-market records — Where you have it, record sales and licence quotes and actual client feedback. Causation is examined separately. How far to go: keep it if you have it, do not create it, see SOP06.
- If you don't have it: Not knowing, or not having calculated a loss, does not affect taking part. Do not invent a figure.
Correspondence
- E42 | Existing complaints or licensing correspondence and replies — Preserves the original record and its surrounding context, avoiding a new notice that changes the situation. How far to go: keep it if you have it, do not create it, see SOP06.
- If you don't have it: You do not have to send a lawyer's letter first. Preserve what is in front of you instead.
Routing
- E43 | Territorial connections that may be relevant — Residence, creation, first publication and use are recorded separately. Where you live does not by itself decide the law. How far to go: keep it if you have it, do not create it, see SOP06.
- If you don't have it: Knowing only the country is enough. A full home address is not required for ordinary evidence.
Procedure
- E44 | Intended court, start date and status of professional certification — Verified before formal procedures in India, Mexico and elsewhere. How far to go: handled by a professional, see SOP05.
- If you don't have it: If no proceedings have started, record not_started. It is not required in order to take part.
